The fascination of climbing & hiking
The peaks of the local mountains to Zell am See, the Schmittenhöhe and the Kitzsteinhorn seem so close you could reach out and touch them, whilst the peaks of the Hohe Tauern National Park tower up to 3000 m above sea level. Try out the challenging climbing routes in this region of Salzburger Land. If you prefer to indulge in exciting climbing indoors, then take advantage of the various climbing and bouldering halls and the indoor high ropes course. This has 5 routes and a total of 50 stations, enough to excite all levels of climbers, right up to experts. The Höhenburg mountain is home to 3 via ferrata near to the Kaprun high mountain reservoirs taking you along rocks with a rich history to tell.
Biking for keen outdoor sports people
Whether you are a leisure biker or ambitious expert, the cycle routes around Zell am See are focused on the appreciation of nature and its diversity. The range reaches from short, level routes and the popular Tauernradweg cycleway through to demanding mountain routes. Racing bikers can head out onto the “Ironman 70.3” world championship route or the Großglockner High Alpine Road, and those who want to explore the Pinzgau region in an effortless way can rent a modern E-bike from one of the many hire shops. There are somewhat more horsepower to be experienced in the E-motocross park near the top station of the Schmittenhöhe. The course promises outdoor fans speedy fun whatever their age, and without any noise or exhaust fumes whatsoever.
